Originality
A genuine point of view instead of interchangeable creative-industry polish.
The studio / Caitlin Maddigan
An independent creative practice for the public-facing work people see—and the language, decisions, relationships, and systems that support it.
Direct collaboration / Multidisciplinary by design

Caitlin Maddigan / Founder
Before Studio Salal, I worked in community care, education, and small-business leadership.
That experience shapes what I notice: where people hesitate, what a business carries invisibly, and which decisions make a website or system genuinely easier to use.
Working principles
Each principle changes what gets noticed, what gets made, and how the work is handed back.
A genuine point of view instead of interchangeable creative-industry polish.
Attention to the relationships among people, ideas, systems, and technology.
Design for actual human experiences, devices, abilities, and ways of working.
Care with the visible work and with the structure required to maintain it.

Why Salal?
Salal is a Pacific Northwest understory plant that grows outward through connected structures beneath the surface. The metaphor stays simple: visible work depends on what connects below it.
